Texas Rangers starting pitcher Kason Gabbard sure got roughed up on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays.  Gabbard only lasted 4 1/3 innings before getting pulled out of the game.  Gabbard gave up five hits, five runs, and six walks in the game.  Terrible control by Gabbard today as he put the Rangers in a big hole early in the game.

Milton Bradley led the Rangers with two rbi which came in the fourth inning on a two run single.  The Rangers did not score another run in the game until the ninth inning when they were able to push across one run on a Frank Catalanotto single.

Next up for the Rangers is a three game weekend series with the Oakland Athletics.  The Rangers need to get something going as they are five games out of the division pending tonights action.

Josh Hamilton connected on a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning as the Texas Rangers defeated the Minnesota Twins 8-7 in ten innings of action.  Good win for the Rangers who salvaged a split in the four game series with the Twins.

Chris Shelton and Hamilton both had two rbi in the game to lead the Rangers at the plate.  Milton Bradley, Gerald Laird, and Marlon Byrd all had one rbi in the game as well.  It was a balanced scoring output for the Rangers as they collected 16 total hits in the game.

Joaquin Benoit ended up getting the win and improved his record to 3-1 on the season.  C.J. Wilson notched his ninth save of the season as he closed the game out in the tenth inning.

Starting pitcher Vincent Padilla lasted only five innings as he gave up seven hits and three runs.  Jamey Wright then came into the game in the sixth inning and allowed two runs to score while only recording two outs.  Frank Francisco was able to get out of the sixth inning before pitching a scoreless seventh inning.

The Rangers are now one game under .500 at 24-25 on the season.  They will begin a weekend series with the Cleveland Indians on Friday.  Rangers Blog

The Texas Rangers were absolutely crushed by the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night as the Rangers defeated the Twins 11-4.  The Rangers had 11 hits compared to the Twins 13 hits, but the had more rbi chances and took advantage of them all game long.

Doug Mathis was rocked for eight hits and nine runs in only 2 1/3 innings of action.  Six of those nine runs were earned as Mathis’s era sky rocketed to 10.12.  Mathis is now 1-1 on the season.

Franklyn German pitched the next 3 2/3 innings and did a wonderful job as he did not allow a run to cross the plate.  The Rangers then called on Josh Rupe to throw the final two innings of the game and he gave up three hits and two runs.

Ian Kinsler, Josh Hamilton, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and German Duran all had one rbi in the game for the Rangers.

The Texas Rangers lost a close game to the Minnesota Twins on Monday night as the two teams battled into the 12th inning.  The Twins came back to tie the game in the ninth inning and eventually ended up scoring in the 12th inning to beat the Rangers 7-6.

Franklyn German took the loss for the Rangers and is now 1-3 on the season.  German gave up two hits, a walk, and one run in the 12th inning.

Scott Feldman started the game for the Rangers.  Feldman tossed six innings while giving up seven hits and five runs in the game.  He gave up one home run and struck out two batters.  C.J. Wilson tried closing the game in the ninth inning but was unable to do so as he gave up two walks and a run.  You just can’t win when you walk people late in the game…

Josh Hamilton and Ian Kinsler both hit solo home runs for the Rangers but it was Jason Saltalamacchia who led the team with two rbi.  Saltalamacchia had a two run rbi single in the seventh inning.  Milton Bradley and David Murphy both had a rbi in the game as well.

That is a tough way to lose a game, we will have to see how the Rangers bounce back from it on Tuesday night when they play the Twins once again.  Rangers Blog

It was a productive three game series for the Texas Rangers even though they lost to the Seattle Mariners 4-3 in 12 innings on Wednesday afternoon.  The Rangers took two out of three games from the Rangers and are now two games away from hitting the .500 mark.

Scott Feldman threw seven innings of six hit baseball on Wednesday as he started the game for the Rangers.  He allowed three runs but only one of those was earned.  An error by Ramon Vazquez in the seventh inning really hurt the Rangers as two runs would score that inning off Feldman.

Doug Mathis, C.J. Wilson, Jamey Wright, and Eddie Guardado all pitched one inning of relief and all pitched scoreless innings.  It wasn’t until Franklyn German came into the game did the bullpen give up a run.  It’s too bad that that one run decided the ballgame.  German took the loss and his record dropped to 1-2 on the season.

Michael Young, Josh Hamilton, and David Murphy all had one rbi in the game for the Rangers.  They were just missing out on that one home run or one big hit to knock a couple more runs in.  All in all though, it was a good series for the Rangers in my opinion.

Kason Gabbard pitched 5 1/3 innings to start the game for the Rangers.  He allowed five hits and two runs as he got the no decision in the game.  Josh Rupe got the win as he pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief after Gabbard left the game. Ruper is now 2-1 on the season.  Eddie Guardado picked up his first save of the season as he closed out the Mariners in the ninth inning.

Ramon Vazquez led the Rangers with two rbi.  Vasquez had a sac fly in the sixth inning and then a rbi single in the eighth inning.  Gerald Laird had a rbi single in the second inning and Ian Kinsler had a sac fly in the eighth inning as well.

The Texas Rangers gave up four runs in the top of the ninth inning as the Seattle Mariners came back to tie the game and force it into extra innings.  However in the bottom of the tenth inning, Ramon Vazquez hit a walk off solo home run to give the Rangers a 13-12 victory over the Mariners.

Besides Vazquez’s home run, Josh Hamilton and Milton Bradley hit back to back solo home runs in the third inning.  Hamilton led all Rangers hitters with four rbi in the game.  Michael Young finished with two rbi while Frank Catalanotto, Chris SheltonGerman Duran, Vasquez, and Bradley all had one rbi in the game.

Doug Mathis pitched the top of the tenth inning to pick up his first win of the season.  C.J. Wilson was the pitcher that gave up the four runs in the to of the ninth inning that allowed the Mariners to tie the game.  Wilson gave up a three run home run to Kenji Johjima that tied the game.

Starting pitcher Vicente Padilla threw five innings of seven hit baseball.  He let six runs cross the plate, with three of them being earned.

The Texas Rangers struggled with the Seattle Mariners on Monday night and ended up losing 7-3.  The Rangers were only able to score three runs, and all three runs came in the seventh inning when they were already down 7-0.

Kevin Millwood started on the mound for the Rangers and tossed only three innings to take the loss.  Millwood gave up nine hits and seven runs in the game.  Millwood gave up two home runs which really hurt him.

Josh Rupe did very good as he pitched four scoreless innings in relief of Millwood.  Eddie Guardado also got a inning of action and did not allow a run.

Milton Bradley led the Rangers with two RBI while Brandon Boggs had one RBI.  Bradley had a two run double in and Boggs had a RBI groundout.  Like we previously blogged, all the Rangers runs came in the seventh inning.

The Texas Rangers only had five hits against the Kansas City Royals but they made sure that two of them were home runs as they went onto beat the Royals 2-1.  Ian Kinsler and Ramon Vazquez both hit solo home runs of Royals starting pitcher Zack Greinke to lead the Rangers to the victory.

Sidney Ponson picked up the win which was his first of the season.  Ponson tossed eight innings and only allowed six hits and one run.  Don’t ask me how Ponson pitched so well, I didn’t even expect to see him make a start for the Rangers this year!

C.J. Wilson pitched the ninth inning to pick up his sixth save of the season.
