Texas Rangers left-hander Derek Holland is likely headed to the disabled list because of mild inflammation in his left rotator cuff. The pitcher left in the second inning of his start Sunday night in Minnesota. Holland returned to Texas and was examined Monday by team physician Dr. Keith Meister. The Rangers made no official move Monday, an off day.

Texas Rangers starter Derek Holland has been pulled from the game against Minnesota in the second inning because of soreness in his left shoulder. Rangers trainers first visited Holland on the mound in the first inning, but the lefty remained in the game. He walked Delmon Young and J.J. Hardy to start the second inning, then gave up an RBI single to Nick Punto.

With the game tied at 2, the Minnesota Twins loaded the bases with nobody out in the seventh inning. Dream scenario, right? The Minnesota Twins finally got a big hit with the bases loaded to key a six-run seventh inning, and beat the Texas Rangers 8-3 in the American League on Saturday. Texas starter C.J Wilson (3-3) walked Justin Morneau to lead off the seventh, gave up a double to Michael Cuddyer and then walked Jason Kubel to exit with the bases loaded and nobody out.

Texas outfielder Nelson Cruz will avoid his second stint on the disabled list, but a sore hamstring will limit him to pinch-hitting for now. Cruz did some light running before Friday night's game at Minnesota and felt soreness. Rangers manager Ron Washington did not put Cruz into the lineup against the Twins.

Texas Rangers slugger Nelson Cruz will work out Friday before the team determines if his latest hamstring injury might require him to go on the disabled list again. An MRI on Thursday determined Cruz has a strained left hamstring, apparently sustained this week during a game at Kansas City. The Rangers were off Thursday before a weekend series at Minnesota.
