The pitcher left in the second inning of his start Sunday night in Minnesota. Holland returned to Texas and was examined Monday by team physician Dr. Keith Meister. Texas Rangers starter Derek Holland has been pulled from the game against Minnesota in the second inning because of soreness in his left shoulder. Rangers trainers first visited Holland on the mound in the first inning, but the lefty remained in the game. He walked Delmon Young and J.J. Hardy to start the second inning, then gave up an RBI single to Nick Punto.

Texas Rangers slugger Nelson Cruz will work out Friday before the team determines if his latest hamstring injury might require him to go on the disabled list again. An MRI on Thursday determined Cruz has a strained left hamstring, apparently sustained this week during a game at Kansas City. The Rangers were off Thursday before a weekend series at Minnesota.
