The deadline is finally here. The Texas Rangers have until 4 p.m. CT today to reach a contract with Yu Darvish. If the Rangers do not reach an agreement with Darvish, he will return to Japan for the 2012 season and the Rangers will have their $51.7 million posting fee refunded.

The next few years could be very difficult for some fans of the Texas Rangers. This is a team that should be competitive and could even win multiple World Series during the next decade, but if fans are fans of players first and not the team, it could get difficult for them.

I’d almost wrote off the chance of signing the man, but it looks like Nolan Ryan and the Texas Rangers are starting to talk to Prince Fielder after all. I don’t think Texas needs the player but I won’t complain if they sign him.
