Rangers manager Ron Washington is used to being second-guessed. But not by himself.
Nonetheless, Washington said he was at fault for not putting on a bunt play with center fielder Julio Borbon at the plate Tuesday night in the ninth inning of a one-run game. The Rangers ended up losing 7-6.
“If I could do it all over again, I think I’d go with the bunt,” Washington said. “I just went with my gut. My gut was churning last night. But maybe with the way he’s swinging the bat right now, that wasn’t the best thing. Our job is to put them in the best position to succeed. Maybe I put him in a bad situation.”
With pinch runner Craig Gentry on second base and no outs, Washington allowed Borbon to take a full swing against Oakland closer Andrew Bailey. View full post on Yahoo! Sports – MLB – Texas Rangers News
