David Murphy, Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, Marlon Byrd, Brandon Boggs, Frank Cattalanotto, and Andruw Jones. Two of these guys are likely not going to make the roster. Murphy, Hamilton, Cruz and Byrd are locks unless an injury occurs.  That means only one of Cattalonotto, Boggs and Jones makes the team. The salary of Cattalonotto makes him the likely choice, but Boggs had played well so far this spring.

The best hope is that some other team decides that they need to fill a hole and makes a trade for Byrd. Then you could have Boggs here playing very little or at AAA playing everyday and Jones could fill a spot here.

My guess, Byrd is traded maybe along with Boggs for a pitcher and Jones makes the team out of ST.

It was not a good night to be a pitcher on the Texas Rangers team as they gave up 17 runs to the Detroit Tigers and lost the game 17-4. Four different Rangers pitchers gave up runs in the game as they were clobbered right from the beginning.

Starting pitcher Dustin Nippert was charged with six hits and five runs in just 4 1/3 innings. Luis Mendoza was even worse as he didn’t even record an out and gave up four hits and six runs while walking two other batters. In one inning of action, Bill White gave up three hits and five more runs. Scott Feldman didn’t want to me left out of the performance and he gave up one run as well in the game. Pitchers clearly didn’t have things working on Wednesday night.

Brandon Boggs had three of the four Rangers rbi’s in the game as he had a two run double and a rbi ground out in the game. Chris Davis had a rbi double in the eighth inning for the fourth and final rbi for the Rangers. When your pitchers give 17 runs, I don’t expect the offense to do much and that was clearly the case here.

The Texas Rangers finished up a three game sweep of the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday night with a 3-2 victory. The Rangers scored two runs in the seventh inning to take the lead and they never looked back as they held off the Royals for the win.

Matt Harrison improved to 6-3 on the season as he tossed 6 2/3 innings. Harrison gave up seven hits and two runs while striking out four hitters. Joaquin Benoit, Jamey Wright, and Frank Francisco all pitched in relief to hold off the Royals. Francisco earned his first save of the season in the game as well.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia tied the game in the seventh inning with an rbi single and then scored on a error later in the inning for the go head and winning run. The first Rangers run came on a Brandon Boggs solo home run in the fourth inning.

Wow, what an exciting game for the Texas Rangers! The Rangers offense hit six total home runs and starting pitcher Kevin Millwood tossed a complete game as the Rangers beat the Tigers 9-1. With the win, the Rangers avoided the three game sweep at home.

Brandon Boggs, Michael Young, Josh Hamilton, Michael Bradley and Travis Metcalf all hit solo home runs in the game. Metcal also had a two run shot in the second inning. The only run that the Rangers did not score via the home run ball came in the third inning when Chris Davis had a rbi groundout.

Millwood was the start on the mound as he pitched a complete game for his seventh win of the season. Millwood is now 7-7 on the season.

The Texas Rangers came up one run short on Thursday night as they lost to the Los Angeles Angels 11-10.  It was a high scoring game where both offenses combined for 32 hits and 21 runs.  The Rangers had 20 hits compared to the Angels 12.  It’s too bad the offense wasn’t ablt to score more runs with all those hits.

Jamey Wright took the loss after he gave up a rbi single in the 11th inning.  Scott Feldman the Rangers starter for the night was rocked early in the game as he was tagged for six hits and eight runs in only 3 2/3 innings.  After Feldman left the game Wes Littleton pitched the next 3 1/3 innings while giving up two more runs.

Michael Young, Josh Hamilton, and Max Ramirez all had two rbi in the game for the Rangers.  Ramon Vazquez, Marlon Byrd, Chris Davis, and Brandon Boggs all helped out with one rbi each as well.  Hamilton, Byrd, and Ramirez all went deep in the game as well.

The Rangers will now begin a three game weekend series with the Chicago White Sox.  It will be the last series before the all star break so hopefully the team can finish up the first half with a series win.

Texas Rangers closer C.J. Wilson blew another game as he was charged with two runs in the top of the ninth inning that tyed the game at 4-4.  However, thanks to a Michael Young rbi single that scored Ian Kinsler, the Rangers were able to come back and beat the Braves 5-4.

I’m not sure what is up with Wilson and I really hope that it is just a slump that will last these past two games.  Jamey Wright actually gave up the tying run in the ninth inning on a sacrafice fly but the run was still charged to Wilson.  Wright was charged with the blown save but picked up the win to improve his record to 4-2 on the season.

Scott Feldman actually pitched a pretty game as he pitched the first seven innings of the game and only gave up five hits and two runs.  Feldman left the came and Eddie Guardado came in and pitched a scoreless eighth inning just as he was supposed to.  Feldman and Guardado did their jobs that is for sure, Wilson and Wright however did not.

Brandon Boggs hit his third home run of the season which was a three run home run in the sixth inning to lead the Rangers with three rbi.  Young had the other two runs batted in for the Rangers.

Good series win for the Rangers as they took two out of three games against the Braves.  They will now play the Washington Nationals this weekend.  The Rangers should win two out of three game in that series I think.

C.J. Wilson had a very dissapointing outing in the ninth inning as he gave up three runs and the Texas Rangers lost to the Atlanta Braves by the score of 5-2.  It just wasn’t Wilson’s night as he had a very bad outing while taking the loss.

Rangers starting pitcher Eric Hurley lasted five innings and gave up five hits and two runs.  One of the hits was a home run in the first inning that Chipper Jones hit off of Hurley.  The middle bullpen for the Rangers pitched pretty good as Frank Francisco, Jamey Wright, and Eddie Guardado all pitched scoreless innings before Wilson messed things up in the ninth inning.

At the plate for the Rangers Gerald Laird had a rbi single in the third inning and Brandon Boggs had a rbi infield single in the sixth inning.  That was all the Rangers could get going against the Braves pitching staff.  Not the kind of outing I was expecting out of the Rangers to be honest.

The Texas Rangers hit five home runs as they beat up the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night with a 12-7 victory.  It was a good win for the Rangers as the offense really came out and swung the bats well.  With the win, the Rangers are now 30-30 and sitting at .500.

Milton Bradley hit two home runs while Josh Hamilton, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and David Murphy all hit one long ball in the game.  Bradley, Hamilton, Murphy, and Saltalamacchia all had two rbi’s in the game.  Ian Kinsler, Michael Young, and Brandon Boggs all finished the game with one rbi each.

Frank Francisco picked up the win and is now 1-1 on the season.  Francisco came into the game and pitched 1 2/3 innings after starting pitcher A.J. Murray left with a left rotator cuff strain.  Murray had given up six hits and one runs in 2 1/3 innings.

Josh Rupe gave up two runs while Jamey Wright, Eddie Guardado, and C.J. Wilson all gave up one run.

The Rangers and Indians will play another night game on Wednesday night which will be the third game of their four game series.  Rangers Blog

The Texas Rangers struggled with the Seattle Mariners on Monday night and ended up losing 7-3.  The Rangers were only able to score three runs, and all three runs came in the seventh inning when they were already down 7-0.

Kevin Millwood started on the mound for the Rangers and tossed only three innings to take the loss.  Millwood gave up nine hits and seven runs in the game.  Millwood gave up two home runs which really hurt him.

Josh Rupe did very good as he pitched four scoreless innings in relief of Millwood.  Eddie Guardado also got a inning of action and did not allow a run.

Milton Bradley led the Rangers with two RBI while Brandon Boggs had one RBI.  Bradley had a two run double in and Boggs had a RBI groundout.  Like we previously blogged, all the Rangers runs came in the seventh inning.
