Eddie Guardado took the loss for the Rangers as he gave up a run in the seventh inning.  He wasn’t the only pitcher to throw the ball bad though.  Joaquin Benoit came in after Guardado left and quickly gave up four more runs in the game.

Starting pitcher Doug Mathis was rocked and only pitched 3 2/3 innings.  Mathis gave up eight runs on 12 hits including two home runs.  Mathis put the Rangers in a big hole early, and that is what you never want to see your starting pitcher do.

Josh Hamilton and Marlon Byrd both had home runs in the game for the Rangers.  Hamilton’s was a two run shot while Byrd connected on a grand slam in the fifth inning.  Michael Young, Chris Shelton, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia all had one rbi in the game as well.  Some good production by the Rangers, it was just too bad the pitchers threw the ball so badly.

Doug Mathis was rocked for eight hits and nine runs in only 2 1/3 innings of action.  Six of those nine runs were earned as Mathis’s era sky rocketed to 10.12.  Mathis is now 1-1 on the season.

Franklyn German pitched the next 3 2/3 innings and did a wonderful job as he did not allow a run to cross the plate.  The Rangers then called on Josh Rupe to throw the final two innings of the game and he gave up three hits and two runs.

Ian Kinsler, Josh Hamilton, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and German Duran all had one rbi in the game for the Rangers.

Scott Feldman threw seven innings of six hit baseball on Wednesday as he started the game for the Rangers.  He allowed three runs but only one of those was earned.  An error by Ramon Vazquez in the seventh inning really hurt the Rangers as two runs would score that inning off Feldman.

Doug Mathis, C.J. Wilson, Jamey Wright, and Eddie Guardado all pitched one inning of relief and all pitched scoreless innings.  It wasn’t until Franklyn German came into the game did the bullpen give up a run.  It’s too bad that that one run decided the ballgame.  German took the loss and his record dropped to 1-2 on the season.

Michael Young, Josh Hamilton, and David Murphy all had one rbi in the game for the Rangers.  They were just missing out on that one home run or one big hit to knock a couple more runs in.  All in all though, it was a good series for the Rangers in my opinion.

Besides Vazquez’s home run, Josh Hamilton and Milton Bradley hit back to back solo home runs in the third inning.  Hamilton led all Rangers hitters with four rbi in the game.  Michael Young finished with two rbi while Frank Catalanotto, Chris Shelton, German Duran, Vasquez, and Bradley all had one rbi in the game.

Doug Mathis pitched the top of the tenth inning to pick up his first win of the season.  C.J. Wilson was the pitcher that gave up the four runs in the to of the ninth inning that allowed the Mariners to tie the game.  Wilson gave up a three run home run to Kenji Johjima that tied the game.

Starting pitcher Vicente Padilla threw five innings of seven hit baseball.  He let six runs cross the plate, with three of them being earned.

The Rangesr are now two games under .500 at 19-21 on the season.  Rangers Blog
