The Texas Rangers have sent down two players that had hoped to make the major league team out of spring training.  Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Kameron Loe have been optioned down to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Saltalamacchia won’t get any playtime with the big league club unless Gerald Laird struggles or gets hit.  The Rangers want Saltalamacchia to get some regular work so that is why he is on his way to Oklahoma City.

The Texas Rangers have released information about Brandon McCarthy and his injured forearm.  McCarthy has severe inflammation in a forearm muscle near his elbow.  The injury won’t need surgery to repair at this point, McCarthy and the Rangers will just play the waiting game and hope that it ges better with some rest.

With the injury to McCarthy, Luis Mendoza or the newely acquired Sidney Ponson could replace him in the starting rotation.  I’d put my money on Mendoza however, as I really don’t want to see Ponson ever pitching for big league team.  Keep that fan man in the minors lol!

Josh Hamilton led the Texas Rangers over the Kansas City Royals in a 6-1 victory.  Hamilton finished going 1-3 with two RBI’s.  Kevin Mench, David Murphy, and Taylor Teagarden all helped out with an RBI apiece as well.  Teagarden went deep in the 7th inning for his RBI.

A.J. Murray and Luis Mendoza both pitched two scoreless innings. Murray, starting in place of Brandon McCarthy, walked two and struck out two. Mendoza retired five straight hitters before Alex Gordon singled off him.

The Rangers travel to Tempe, Ariz. on Thursday at 4:05 p.m. CT to play the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, with left-hander Kason Gabbard on the mound.
