The Texas Rangers were able to hold on and beat the Atlanta Braves by a 7-5 score on Tuesday night.  The Braves did attempt a comeback as they scored three runs in the eighth inning but luckily for the Rangers they were able to hold on and improve their record to 36-36.

Josh Hamilton and Marlon Byrd both hit solo home runs in the game.  It was Milton Bradley who led the team with two rbi in the game however.  Bradley had a two run single in the third inning when the Rangers score four runs in the inning.  David Murphy had a sac fly rbi and Michael Young also had a rbi groundout in the third inning.  Ian Kinsler scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning for the Rangers as well.

Vicente Padilla upped his record to 9-3 as he pitched six innings to pick up the win.  Padilla allowed two hits and two runs in this six innings of action.  Jamey Wright, Eddie Guardado, and C.J. Wilson each pitched one inning of relief.  Guardado gave up the three run home run in the eight inning before Wilson picked up his 14th save of the season in the ninth inning.

The Texas Rangers scored seven runs in the seventh inning as they went on to beat the Kansas City Royals 11-5 on Wednesday night.  It was a good victory for the Rangers who will go for the three game sweep of the Royals on Thursday afternoon.

David Murphy led the Rangers at the plate as he went 3-5 in the game.  A grand slam by Murphy in the seventh inning blew the game wide open.  Murphy wasn’t down however, he also hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.  Ian Kinsler and Gerald Laird both had two rbi for the Rangers as well.  Josh Hamilton and Ramon Vazquez both finished the game with one rbi each as well.

Vicente Padilla improved to 8-3 on the season as he came away with the win in the game.  Padilla tossed six innings while giving up seven hits and five runs.  He walked three batters while stricking out two and giving up one home run. Jamey Wright, Eddie Guardado, and Frank Francisco all pitched one inning in relief and they all did a great job.

The Texas Rangers gave up four runs in the top of the ninth inning as the Seattle Mariners came back to tie the game and force it into extra innings.  However in the bottom of the tenth inning, Ramon Vazquez hit a walk off solo home run to give the Rangers a 13-12 victory over the Mariners.

Besides Vazquez’s home run, Josh Hamilton and Milton Bradley hit back to back solo home runs in the third inning.  Hamilton led all Rangers hitters with four rbi in the game.  Michael Young finished with two rbi while Frank Catalanotto, Chris SheltonGerman Duran, Vasquez, and Bradley all had one rbi in the game.

Doug Mathis pitched the top of the tenth inning to pick up his first win of the season.  C.J. Wilson was the pitcher that gave up the four runs in the to of the ninth inning that allowed the Mariners to tie the game.  Wilson gave up a three run home run to Kenji Johjima that tied the game.

Starting pitcher Vicente Padilla threw five innings of seven hit baseball.  He let six runs cross the plate, with three of them being earned.

The Rangesr are now two games under .500 at 19-21 on the season.  Rangers Blog
