The Texas Rangers have signed former Chicago Cubs ace Mark Prior and assigned him to Class AAA Oklahoma City, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. Drafted second overall by the Cubs in 2001, Prior was labeled a can't-miss prospect and had a dominating season with Chicago in 2003, when he won 18 games and was named to the NL All-Star team. But multiple injuries derailed his promising career. Prior, who turns 30 on Tuesday, hasn't pitched in the bigs since 2006.
